Who do I work for during an engagement, and who covers expenses?

Last updated: October 10, 2026

You provide your services directly to the client. Your deliverables, day-to-day work, and working relationship all live with them. Go Fractional makes the match, handles the paperwork, and processes payment.

You're an independent contractor

  • You decide how the work gets done. You'll follow the client's reasonable policies and procedures, but the method and approach are yours.
  • You're free to work with other clients at the same time.
  • You handle your own taxes and benefits. Go Fractional doesn't withhold taxes or provide employee benefits.

What about expenses?

Outside costs like travel, lodging, or software are yours to cover unless the client agrees otherwise. If you expect expenses, agree on reimbursement directly with the client before you spend the money. Go Fractional doesn't reimburse expenses, and you collect any reimbursement from the client yourself.

Can I work through my own company?

Yes. See Can I take on engagements through my own company instead of as an individual?

What if the client wants to hire me full-time?

That's a great outcome, and it happens. The client pays Go Fractional a one-time conversion fee, and you're free to accept the role. Just loop us in early so we can make it a clean transition.
