How does matching work, and what should I expect?
Last updated: October 10, 2026
Our team does the matching. When a client comes to us with a need, a recruiter searches the network for people whose experience fits, then reaches out to you directly when there's a match. You don't need to apply to every posting to be considered.
From first contact to kickoff
- We reach out. A recruiter contacts you about a specific client need.
- Quick chat. We confirm your interest, availability, and rate for this engagement.
- Meet the client. We introduce you, and you and the client decide if it's a fit.
- Sign the SOW. We prepare a Statement of Work covering scope, length, and fees.
- Get started. You work directly with the client, and we handle billing and payment.
Saw a role you're excited about on the job board? Tell us, and we can prioritize introducing you for it.
Where do I see my opportunities?
In the app, open Work, then Jobs (app.gofractional.com/work). Roles that need a response from you appear under Action Required, with your active and past opportunities below. The same page has a View Job Board button for browsing open positions.
What should I expect?
Go Fractional is one great source of client work, and it works best alongside your own pipeline. Most fractional leaders still win much of their work through their own network and referrals. Think of us as one more channel bringing you well-matched opportunities, plus a community that helps you get better at running your fractional business.
- Demand drives everything. The number and type of roles depends on what clients need right now. Specialized industries may see fewer listed roles.
- Not every engagement is posted. Many are filled by our team reaching out directly, so a strong profile matters more than refreshing the job board.
- Joining is free, and there's no exclusivity. You're always free to find and run fractional work on your own outside the platform.
- Being matched isn't guaranteed. We'd rather be upfront about that than overpromise.
I applied for a role and haven't heard back
Your application goes to our team, who put together the shortlist for the client. Only candidates selected for the next stage are contacted, so applying doesn't guarantee an interview or individual feedback. Keep your profile sharp and tailored, and keep an eye out for other roles that fit.
What kinds of engagements are there?
- Fractional: ongoing part-time work with a client.
- Interim: more intensive coverage for a defined period or a leadership gap.
- Contract-to-hire: a chance for you and the client to work together before considering a permanent role.
